LIGHT AS A LANGUAGE

Around that time, I discovered that the Rochester Institute of Technology had just opened a program in Dubrovnik, Croatia. I followed that thread — enrolled in Tourism Management, and arrived on the Adriatic coast with a camera and an eye already trained to look. My early Croatian photographs caught the attention of a Polish travel agency, Travelone.pl, who sent me along the coastline and islands to document virtually everything I could find. I fell in love with the Mediterranean light during those long drives.

That love led me further. Two Polish travel agencies invited me to represent them in Montenegro, where I spent two seasons organizing excursions and photographing the landscape to promote my own bus tours. Photography was already doing more than recording — it was telling stories, building trust, moving people.

When the opportunity came to explore another corner of the Mediterranean basin, I ended up in Andalusia. I opened my first photography gallery in Frigiliana — one of the most beautiful villages in Spain — and for more than ten years it was the only photography gallery within 150 kilometers. My image Lucky 7 became part of the visual identity of the area. It ended up in restaurants, private homes, and on refrigerators across the region. During those years, German and English magazines regularly featured my work on their covers, and I placed in virtually every local competition I entered. My gallery was a place where thousands of people connected directly with my work.

Eventually, I was drawn north by the green coast of Catalonia — its medieval stone villages, rivers, lakes, and the Pyrenees on the horizon. I settled near Barcelona, built a successful photography business serving real estate agencies, hotels, and campings along the Costa Brava, and I have been here ever since. I don't just document places. I reshape them using light, timing, and intention. By combining natural and artificial light, I create images that feel real, yet subtly transformed — more focused, more still, more emotional. My approach is minimal, but not empty. I look for balance, atmosphere, and silence. Often, there is a trace of human presence — a structure, a gesture, a sign of life — enough to suggest a story without fully telling it. Photography, for me, is a way of slowing down reality and reconstructing it into something more contemplative. Not a record of what is there, but a reflection of how it feels to be there.

Beyond fine art, I run a successful commercial photography and production business on the Costa Brava.
